Bio

After graduating from Citronelle High School in 1992, I pursued a degree in Global Business at the University of Mobile. While in college, I lived and studied in Tours, France and Brussels, Belgium and ended up adding a French major to my degree. In July of 1998, after using my business degree, I felt the calling to take my career on a different path. I walked from my office to Barton Academy (MCPSS central office at the time) and applied to become a French teacher. I have never looked back!

In August of 1998, I began teaching French at Burns Middle School and in 2001, transferred to Davidson High School where I spent the next 20 years teaching all levels of French including AP and IB. In 2007, I earned my Master of Education from the University of South Alabama (USA) and in 2009, certified as a National Board Certified Teacher. Over the next decade, I served as the president of the Alliance Française de Mobile, researched the Great Upheaval of the French-speaking Acadians in Nova Scotia, Canada, joined the MCPSS Support Committee for the promotion and support of National Board Certified teachers, taught at USA and online through the Alabama ACCESS program, and became an examiner for the International Baccalaureate program.

In 2021, I accepted a new challenge as French teacher at the newly renovated Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies. I am thrilled to be back at Barton where it all started! At Barton, I lead an MCPSS cohort group for candidates seeking National Board Certification, sponsor INTERACT and French Club, and chair the Sunshine Committee. In May of 2022, I was named the Alabama Secondary Teacher of the Year and the Alternate Teacher of the Year.

This is my 25th year as a classroom teacher. My wife and I have 3 boys 13, 9 and 4 years. We love to travel!
